Most of our services are done at Global Genetics; However, we do go to different farms when requested. Please contact us to check or availability to come to your farm.

Send or bring the registration papers ahead of time so we can set up your does for service. We will also issue all the appropriate breeding memos.

Artificial Insemination (AI)

AI is a powerful and simple tool that allows the producer to increase the rate of genetic improvement in his/her herd. Great results ocurr with appropriate selection of the buck/ram and proper technique.

Sheep and goats are welcome to stay with us during the entire AI program (min. ~12 days), or if you prefer to set them up (i.e. CIDR insertion/removal and giving shots) at your farm, the does can be brought to us on the day of the procedure (doe must be exhibiting signs of heat).
The semen to be used must be at Global before the program can start.
Whitetail deer : All our AI programs are done on the farm. Call Global Genetics or Revolution Whitetails to check availability for the Fall 2007 schedule.

Methods:

Transcervical: It can be done once or twice. If you choose to AI twice, inseminations are 8-12 hrs apart. No anesthesia is required.

Laparoscopic: Insemination takes place once (we can add a transcervical AI at +/- 12 hrs). It is performed through small incisions in the abdominal area under general anesthesia.

Embryo Collection and Transfer

Your sheep and goats are welcome to stay with us during the entire program (min~18 days). If you prefer to set them up (synchronization, superovulation, breeding) at your farm, we can put together a schedule for you. If you choose to do the set up at your farm, your does will need to be brought in for the embryo collection and transfer.
Remember: No food and water for 18 hours prior to procedure.

Ultrasonography is a wonderful tool if you want to know if your does are pregnant from natural breeding, AI or embryo transfer.
You can bring your does to Global, or we can come to your farm. Call us to schedule an ultrasound for you does.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

IVF is an advanced reproductive technology that offers the opportunity to obtain viable embryos from:

Young does: To shorten the production interval
Does with reproductive problems: Problems getting pregnant, no longer work in conventional ET or AI
Does that need to be put to sleep: Injured, old, etc

Also, IVF offers the possibility for maximizing the use of unique or very expensive semen process:

The donor receives superovulatory drugs, then is subjected to surgery to aspirate the oocytes (eggs before they are fertilized) from the follicles. The oocytes are matured and fertilized, then cultured in a petri dish for a couple of days, followed by surgical transfer of the viable embryos to synchronized recipients.

Embryo Storage

&nbs;Frozen embryos can be stored indefinitely. Global Genetics can store them for you until you need them. We can ship them anywhere in the USA or we can send one of our shipper tanks to pick up your embryos. Shipping costs vary, depending on distance and type of service. We have shipping tanks available for rent.
